Custom Work / A Love Story
I enjoy making custom work for people, many are given as gifts. Occasionally there is the opening to bring an individual's story directly into a work. The first instance of this is unique - a soon to be married Italian woman, requested I incorporate watch hands into a dragonfly, set at the position of time that she met her fiance, as a gift to him on their wedding day.
Custom Work / A Family Story
This green beetle is different, it is customized with only the parts of another woman's watch passed down between women in her family for generations. This provided a challenge, having the mechanical materials limited to just one source, just one watch, I ended up liking the results and fortunately so did she- she feels it keeps the broken watch alive.
Custom Work / A Father's Day Story
This brown speckled rhino beetle is a 39 year old specimen a collector was fond of that was in his father's odd collection of science objects. He sent me the beetle to trick out, when finished, the son gifted the beetle to his father on Father's Day. His father helped invent the plastination process used to create anatomical displays and exhibits like in "BodyWorlds" (which I highly recommend seeing!).
