Ludlow is a Maine Peekytoe crab I customized for a client that wanted the finished work to be slightly interactive. I outfitted Ludlow with a set of claws that had different functions, presented in a walnut display case with storage for parts.
Features on Ludlow are: handmade porcelain barnacles, spring loaded and linked legs, winding port in back, and various mechanical components adapted into the body. The display case contains a velvet lined drawer that stores the claws, features for the claws include a spinning saw blade, grasping pincers, pivoting telescope, and a syringe with luminescent tube- all of which can interchanged on the crab arms with hardware. Other components in the drawer include an oil can, screwdriver, magnifying glass, winding key, brush, and extra screws for claw attachment.
